Hodl Hodl’s API release: fetch and manage offers
Today Hodl Hodl released the first part of the API that allows anyone to both fetch offers from the exchange, as well as manage your own offers through the application programming interface.
About
We’ve been working hard the past few months to introduce our API that many of our customers have been asking for. Today we are only releasing the first part, which allows every customer to fetch and manage offers at hodlhodl.com.
To be precise, you can now:
- Get and search public offers;
- Fetch newly created offers;
- Create new offers;
- Edit and update your existing offers;
You can also receive the following data from us:
- List of all countries;
- List of all currencies supported by the exchange;
- List of all payment methods supported by the exchange.
How to access
Our API documentation can be found here: hodlhodl.com/api/docs.
To enable API access and start using it, follow these steps:
- Go to your profile page
- Click “Edit your profile” button
- Navigate to the “API Access” tab
On this tab you can enable API access and get your API key, which you’ll need to access the API. You can also change or disable your API key on the same page anytime.
Use cases
There are many different use cases for our API, and here are just some of the basic ones:
- Trading automation
We know that many professional traders like to automate their P2P trading processes, and our API allows this: specifically you can automatically adjust your offers’ prices and other attributes to ensure you’re at the very top of the offer list (we sort the offer list by price, showing the best deals on top).
- Offer aggregators
There are many services that aggregate offers from different P2P exchanges and show the best deals to their customers. If you’re managing one of them, you can now easily fetch existing and newly created offers from Hodl Hodl, and show them to visitors.
Also, one of the commonly requested features from P2P exchanges is a referral program, which we also have.
- Wallets
Some wallets (we’re currently in the process of cooperating with one) provide their customers with P2P trading functionality through their interface. With our API, you can show offers from our exchange to your customers, and when we release the next version of our API, you’ll also be able to control contracts through it, effectively performing trades without visiting the website.
Next step
Today’s announcement is only the first step, as it’s still work in progress. We’ll release other parts of the API in the coming weeks.
- The next update of the API relates to on-chain contracts: you’ll be able to create, view and manage them, all through the programming interface.
- The update after that will give you access to Lightning Network contracts.
- Lastly, we’ll continue supporting and updating our API according to requests and feedback from our customers.
Partnerships in progress
With our API, we have already made progress with some partnerships and integrations with different services:
- BlueWallet — a Bitcoin and Lightning wallet for iOS and Android is going to integrate Bitcoin Lightning trading via our exchange.
- Yadio — a BTC market search tool and provider of free-market exchange rates is going to show offers from Hodl Hodl on their site.
More partnership announcements are coming soon.
